Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette First Impression/Review!

Hi everyone! I’m really excited to be writing this blog because it’s my first time being able to swatch the shades from the new Urban Decay Vice 3 eyeshadow palette. I got this as a christmas present from my parents and I was so excited when I opened it up! This palette costs £42 from the Urban Decay website and includes 20 brand new shades (a variety of shimmers and mattes), a double ended eyeshadow brush, a large mirror and a makeup case.

As you can see, they have definitely gone all out with the packaging. It makes a statement, and without even seeing the shades you can probably guess that they are going to be bold and ‘eye-popping’! I’ve read a few reviews with people saying that the packaging didn’t really do it for them, but I love it personally. It’s quite compact considering the numbers of eyeshadows included, and the huge stand-alone mirror makes it a seriously useful product to own!

I love the shades they have picked for this palette as you have some neutral shades and muted ones for daytime use and more understated makeup looks, but then you also have the beautiful bright shades to play around with and create some great looks.

There is a mixture of matte and shimmer shades to cater for everyone, which I also think is great. When I was swatching the shades, most of them were very pigmented and buttery. However, the shades which I wasn’t as impressed with were Heroine and Alien. They seemed ever so slightly chalkier to me and less pigmented, which you may be able to see on the swatches below.

Here we have the shades (from left to right) Truth, Undone, Downfall and DTF. I chose to swatch these separately as these were the palette’s neutrals and transition shades. All of these shades had great colour payoff, and I thought Truth would be a great highlighter for the brow-bone.

Here you can see the next 8 shades with and without flash. From left to right you have Dragon, Freeze, Heroine, Brokedown, Vanity, Lucky, Reign and Bobby Dazzle. As I stated before, I wasn’t that impressed with Heroine, but my favourites out of these shades would have to be Vanity and Lucky as these are just stunning. I will possibly be doing a eye shadow look soon using these!

Lastly, we have my favourite part of the palette. From left to right you have Alien, Alchemy, Bondage, Sonic, Last Sin, Angel, Defy and Revolver. These are simply stunning, with my favourites being Bondage, Sonic, Angel and Defy. I found Alien much harder to swatch as it wasn’t as pigmented as the rest, but I reckon you could use it on the centre of your lid to make your eyes appear larger.

Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this product! Urban Decay eyeshadows are definitely my favourites, with already owning Naked, Naked 3 and their Sustainable palette. This palette has made me want to look into the previous Vice palettes as I’d never really considered purchasing one before. If you don’t really own a palette and want to start then this could be great for you due to the diverse shades you get in it!

Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see a tutorial using this product with a few different eye looks!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette Review and Tutorial!

Today is an exciting day as I received the beautiful Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette! I have seen bloggers writing about this product for a while now, and there were so many excellent reviews on it, so I just had to make the purchase. This retails at about £45.

To start off, the packaging – Oh my gosh! It’s just beautiful. They have really paid attention to detail with this product, and even before opening the product it looks high quality. Thumbs up! Now, I had been told that the eyeshadows smelt of chocolate, however, I was not expecting the smell to be so overpowering! I love it though, as they do genuinely smell like chocolate, and who doesn’t want their eyeshadows smelling like chocolate? :p

This palette comes with 16 shades, including two highlighters, one matte and one shimmer. The shades are so diverse, and I feel you can create many different looks which just using these shades! I will name the shades for you, from left to right, top to bottom: Gilded Ganache, White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Black Forest Truffle, Triple Fudge, Salted Caramel, Marzipan, Semi-Sweet, Strawberry Bon Bon, Candied Violet, Amaretto, Hazelnut, Creme Brûlée, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial and lastly, Champagne Truffle.

Here I have swatched the first 8 shades for you, the bottom colour starts with Gilded Ganache and the order is the same as above, as you get to the top of my arm.

Here are the last 8 colours, starting from Strawberry Bon Bon on the left hand side.

As you can see from the pictures, these eyeshadows are extremely pigmented. I feel as if I would use them all, except maybe for the Strawberry Bon Bon, as I’m still thinking up ways in which I can incorporate this into my eye makeup! I love that you have a mixture of matte, shimmer and glittery eyeshadows too, so it’s extremely diverse.

I decided to do a little tutorial for you guys, showing you how I decided to do my make-up for a meal out with my friends. I won’t go into my base make-up as I have plenty of tutorials on how I do this, however, If you have any questions about that just comment below and I’ll be happy to answer them 🙂

I started with Salted Caramel, by taking this through the crease and halfway up to the brow bone with the Real Techniques blending brush. I then took Marzipan and patted this onto the lid. So far, the eyes should look like this.

I then took the shade Amaretto, and took this on the outer v and halfway through the crease. I also lined underneath my eye with this shade.

I then took the shade White Chocolate and put this on the inner corners of my eye, to brighten my eyes up a bit. I was really impressed with this highlighter, and the matte effect looked great with this makeup look. I then added mascara to my top and bottom lashes, as I wanted an extreme lash effect.

So here is the finished look! I really like it, and will definitely be using this eyeshadow combination again! What do you think?
