Minimal Elegant Makeup Look featuring Winged Liner!

Hi girls – How are you all? I wanted to start with a little apology for not posting on here as much as I used to! This is mainly due to being extremely focused on my Youtube Channel ‘Little Miss Makeup’, but I need to find a balance somewhere between the two! I’m working on it, so please bare with me!

I decided I wanted to do a makeup tutorial on here as I feel like I haven’t done one in forever! The look I wanted to go for was something quite understated and feminine, and I definitely wanted to use winged liner as I’ve been getting back into it recently! Ive used a mixture of both high end and drugstore products so that hopefully this is suitable for everyone’s budgets, so let’s get started!

IMG_3756

Base

To prime my face I started with the Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer. My skin has been slightly dry lately so I always find this helps my foundation to blend in better and hide this! The foundation I chose was my favourite one right now, the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation. For a drugstore foundation this is just excellent! It says it is full coverage, however I would say it is more of a medium. I’m not the sort of person who likes to wear a full coverage foundation, especially during the day time, so this works for me just perfectly. For the concealer I chose the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. For those of you who haven’t tried this product, where have you been?! It has got to be the best affordable concealer right now, as it’s coverage is excellent and it is literally so cheap! I powdered my T Zone with my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

Bronzer, Blush and Highlight

Lately I’ve been reaching for my Benefit Hoola Bronzer tons, so I went for this and just lightly contoured my cheeks and added some warmth to the areas of my face which would catch the most sun, like my nose and forehead. For blush I went for the Benefit Sugarbomb, and I chose the Stila Kitten Highlighter in the light champagne shade to highlight the tops of my cheek bones and on my cupids bow.

Eyes

I went back to my Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette for today’s look, as it has some beautiful warm shades. I started with the shade White Chocolate (Satin/Matte white shade), and applied this all over my lid and crease as a base. I then went on to use Salted Caramel (Matte light brown with slight orange tones) and applied this through my crease with a fluffy brush, making sure to blend well. This just makes your crease look more defined, and brightens up your eyes as it’s a warm tone! I then took the shade Marzipan (Pearly light peach shade) and patted this all over my lid. I then took Cherry Cordial (Satin dark plum shade) and with a very soft hand, applied this onto my outer V area and through the crease, only into the middle. I blended this very well so that it didn’t look too dark or dramatic. I then highlighted my inner corners with Champagne Truffle (Shimmery Champagne shade) and the brow bone with White Chocolate that I used before.

IMG_3761

For my winged liner, I used the Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Liner. I absolutely love the applicator on this, as it’s so fine but the brush doesn’t separate, so you get that perfect thin dramatic line. It dries quite matte as well which I like. It also doesn’t smudge or rub off! Basically, it’s the perfect affordable liquid liner! For my waterline I used the Elizabeth Arden Black Eyeliner as I find this one lasts really well and doesn’t irritate my eyes too much. To finish off the eyes I treated myself to the Dior Show Blackout Mascara. This mascara looks great and volumous, but beware, if you have watery eyes like I do then it can smudge quite easily! I only wear it if I know I don’t need the makeup to be on for the whole day, as I just know it wouldn’t last.

To finish off this look, I chose my current favourite Mac Lipstick in the shade Brave. It’s a Satin red/pink shade which is extremely flattering and easy to wear! I feel like it doesn’t get enough hype in my opinion!

My Niece’s Prom Makeover – Pretty and Glowing Makeup!

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog – I’m really excited for you all to read this post as it features my first makeover on someone other than myself haha! A couple of months ago my niece Bethany asked if I would do her makeup for her school prom, and the first thing I thought was along the lines of…. “You’re that age already?!?!”. I remember my school prom like it was just yesterday, so it feels crazy to me that Beth was planning her first ever prom.

11019216_1741977872696288_8028900641950645376_n

Beth came over to my place the day before her prom, so she could look through my makeup collection and we could both choose which products to use to get the look she wanted. I wanted to trial a primer and foundation on her also, to make sure it worked for her skin so that her photos would come out perfect! If you want to know how I achieved Beth’s Prom Makeover look then keep reading!

Primer – I used two different primers for Beth’s skin – I started with Smashbox Photo Finish Primer on her T Zone and then went for Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer on her cheeks. I chose these to combat any oil in her T Zone but to make sure her cheeks were glowing through the foundation.

Foundation – We went for Lancome Teint Miracle Bare Skin Foundation. Beth didn’t need a high coverage foundation as she doesn’t really suffer from any redness, just the occasional blemish. This worked perfectly on her skin and looked very natural.

Concealer – For under the eyes I used Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch as this is a brightening concealer, and for the occasional blemish cover up I used Mac’s Pro Longwear Concealer.

Powder – I used my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte powder on Beth’s T Zone, applying minimal powder on the cheeks as we want the cheeks to glow.

Blush – Beth absolutely loved the Benefit Sugarbomb blush as it had a beautiful sheen to it, so I applied a little pop of this onto her cheeks.

Highlighter – I chose The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter and applied this to the tops of her cheekbones. This product looked absolutely stunning on her.

Bronzer – As an overall bronzer I applied the Lord and Berry Bronzer in Sienna. I then took Benefit Hula and contoured Beth’s cheeks slightly. I wanted this to be as subtle and natural as possible.

Eyebrows – I used Beth’s regular eyebrow product, Benefit Browzings in Medium. Beth has gorgeous brows anyway, so I didn’t have to do much to them!

Eyes – I delved into my Mac Palette for Beth’s look as I wanted to use the best quality eyeshadows I had. I started with Petina which I applied all over the lid, in the crease and underneath the eye. I then applied All That Glitters in the middle portion of the lid to create a really reflective effect which looked stunning. I then applied Woodwinked into the Outer V area to create a bit of depth. Beth didn’t apply a mascara until just before the event, so no mascara was worn in these pictures.

Lips – I left Beth to choose which lipstick she loved out of my Mac lipsticks, and she went for one of my all time favourites, Hot Gossip. This is a beautiful shimmery Rose Pink.

Here is the finished look!

My Summer Reading List!

Hi guys! So this is probably going to seem very random on my blog as I normally focus on makeup, but this year I want to expand my blog and get into lifestyle posts, instead of just beauty, skincare and things like that.

This year I have been really getting into reading. I have always loved reading books but I think for the past few years I feel I have neglected this interest, which is mainly due to the three year degree I did! Now that I have finished that, I feel like I don’t have to feel guilty anymore for reading a book that I choose to read… not an educational book! Here I have written down for you my Summer reading list!

Grey – E L James

How could I not put this on my list? It is being talked about EVERYWHERE, and I have heard very mixed reviews – Some absolutely love it, whilst others gave up on it half way through. I therefore want be able to give it my own opinion, and as I was a massive fan of the Fifty Shades Trilogy, I couldn’t not read this!

grey-el-james_0

The Girl on The Train – Paula Hawkins

I have actually already started this book and It’s one of the first of this type of genre which I have read. So far I am very intrigued with where Hawkins is going with this story, but it’s got such a good write up so I really can’t wait! UPDATE – Finished the book and was SO impressed! Definitely worth a read!

the-girl-on-the-train

Dark Places – Gillian Flynn

I have previously read Gone Girl by the same author and absolutely loved it! I read this whilst on holiday in Menorca and I just remember being absolutely stuck in to this book. I couldn’t put it down!

51imjknO8PL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

Sharp Objects – Gillian Flynn

For the same reasons as ‘Dark Places’, I have put this on the ‘to read’ list!

41LG0hcWrzL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

Sapphire – Katie Price

I really love a good girly Summer read, and Katie Price really does this for me! I love the story lines, the romance, the drama! I have read many of her books previously, and this is one I have owned for years but just never got round to reading it!

41EPpSZLEoL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

Gold Diggers – Tasmina Perry

I read a book called Private Lives by Perry about two years ago, which was based around a Law Firm. This book took me a little time to get into but all in all I loved it. This encouraged me to purchase another of her books on my Kindle, so I really must give this a read!

So there we have it! I would love to hear your Summer reading lists as I’m always looking for new books!

The Perfect Palette Tag!

Hi everyone! Today’s blog post is going to be The Perfect Palette Tag! I really can’t remember the last time that I did a Tag blog post, so I thought it was about time that I did one! So here we go!

IMG_2748

Best Packaging This has to go to the Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette. It’s packaging is simply stunning! I love the fact that it has a huge mirror also, and the shades are all spaced out with their names underneath which makes it so nice to use. It’s definitely the most vibrant palette I own.

Best Colour Payoff Okay so for this one I would probably have to go for the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette. I normally reach for the matte shades in this palette and I can honestly say that they have a great colour payoff. You only have to dab a tiny bit on your brush and even then you sometimes feel like you have applied too much colour. Such a great quality product.

Most Versatile This one would have to be the Naked 1 Palette by Urban Decay. The reason I choose it is because you can easily get a beautiful daytime look out of it and also go completely full out with a smokey eye for the evening. It’s the first one I pick up if I am going to someones house to get ready or something like that as I know I can get a ton of different looks out of the one palette.

Best for Travelling Well I’ve kind of answered that question above – Oops! But yes the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette for sure. It’s so light so it’s great for travelling and you have a full range of shades so you can vary your looks.

Biggest Regret I don’t actually regret buying it, but it’s one that I haven’t used to it’s full potential yet, and that has to be the Smashbox Double Exposure palette. I have used some of the shades but you can use them wet to get many more shades out of it, which I keep forgetting to try! It was £37 too so it was an expensive palette to buy and not really use properly.

Best Colour Names I LOVE Urban Decay for their colour names, but I also love the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette for their shade names. They are all chocolate/sweets related which I love and it feels so appropriate to the product and makes it really unique. The fact that the product also smells of chocolate is great, too!

Least Used I don’t tend to reach for The Balm Nude ‘Tude palette and I’m not really sure why. I think I just forget I have it because I have a good collection of palettes now.

Most Used/Loved I’m going to have to go for the Naked 1 Palette again for this. You can see it is the most used/loved just by looking at the palette, and it’s the first one I reach for when I’m going out during the day and just want to make a bit more effort with my makeup look.

Desert Island If I was going to be on a desert Island I would definitely have to take my Mac Pro Palette that I have created myself (once I have filled up the last few gaps!). This is just because it is my treasured makeup item and all the colours I love because I was able to pick them all myself.

So there we have it! I tag all of you who read my blog to complete this tag yourself, whether it be on your own blog (please comment below if you do) or just commenting in the section below! I hope you enjoyed reading this and if you want me to do more tags in the future then please let me know down below!

Glamorous Makeup Tutorial – Rose Gold Eyes with Pastel Pink Lips!

Hi everyone! Today’s blog is going to be a Spring evening makeup look consisting of rose gold eyeshadow with a pastel pink lip. This look is perfect for all this great weather we have been having lately! I used the Naked 3 palette to achieve this look but if you are looking for a cheaper alternative I would say the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche eyeshadow palette in Rose would give you a similar effect for a much cheaper price. If you would like to see how I achieved this then keep reading.

IMG_2717IMG_2725

I started with the Benefit Porefessional on my T-Zone, and then applied the Stila One Step Correct Primer over my cheeks. I then let this settle into my skin before buffing the Bobbi Brown Skin foundation over my face. To conceal under my eyes and a few blemishes I used Mac’s Pro Longwear concealer. This has great coverage and you only need to use a tiny amount. I then set this with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder.

The next step was to fill in my eyebrows using the Benefit Browzings with a small angled brush, and then setting them with Benefit Gimme Brow. This makes sure they are set in place all day.

I then took Benefit Hoola bronzer to contour and add a bit of colour to my face, and then applied Benefit Dandelion blush to the apples of my cheeks. I love this blush as it’s very understated and pretty.

The next step is the eyes! I took the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette and started with the shade Limit, which is a matte muted pale lilac shade and blended this through the crease as a transition shade. I then took Nooner through the crease which is a slightly deeper matte lilac. Next, I patted Trick on the lid, which is a beautiful rose gold shade. This one is quite hard to get good colour payoff, so you really have to pack the colour onto the lid to see the effect.

Next I took the shade Strange, which is a matte white, and applied this to the brow bone to lighten this area. To darken the outer V and line the under eye area, I took the shade Liar and applied this, which is a metallic bronze/brown shade. I then took Dust (A pale glittery pink) and applied this to the inner lid area and inner corners, which gave a beautiful reflective effect. To line the upper and lower lash line, I took my Big Beautiful Eyes palette by Benefit and applied the dark matte brown shade with a liner brush. I love the natural but smokey effect that this gives, and it’s not as harsh as dark liquid liner.

I wanted big and separated lashes for this look, so I used the DiorShow Black Out Mascara. This has a very thick consistency, so be very careful when applying it to ensure it doesn’t go clumpy or get messy.

To finish off the look, I went for a nude lipstick by Mac called Creme Cup. It is a beautiful pink pale nude, which gives a glossy creamy effect on the lips. It is definitely one of the favourite nudes that I own.

Liz Earle Skincare Products Haul!

Hi girls! Today’s blog is a small one, just showing you the new products I have purchased from Birchbox’s website! As of lately my skin has started to break out a little, so I wanted to change up my skincare routine and see if it could make a difference.

Liz Earle has a great reputation for it’s incredible natural skincare. Their products contain natural ingredients such as chamomile, avocado oil, cocoa butter and eucalyptus essential oil. Their products also don’t test on animals which is a great benefit.

11033763_10155526147220425_5646391885761699701_n

from the skincare range, I purchased;

  • Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Pack Kit – £15.50
  • Instant Boost Skin Tonic – £14.50
  • Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritz – £14.75
  • Skin Repair Moisturiser for normal/combination skin – £20.25

From this evening I will be trying out this skincare regime morning and nighttime for the next couple of weeks. I will then report back to you on any changes I have found and whether I think these products are worth it for their cost! I hope to bring you good results 🙂

Foundations – Facts and Favourites including Drugstore/Affordable and High End!

Hi guys! I wanted to do another ‘Facts and Favourites’ blog post for you all as I love talking about my favourite products and little things I have learnt about makeup over the past couple of years! I find it strange now as I know so much about foundation, because, only a year and a half ago I knew literally nothing and would barely ever wear the stuff! This was definitely due to not knowing how to apply it and hated the feeling of foundations on my face. Now that I know how to apply it, and know which ones are comfortable on my skin, I am obsessed!

In this post I will be mentioning my favourite ones, both affordable and high end! I have gathered up quite a collection now of those which I love so I hope that you enjoy this blog!

IMG_1015

My Favourite Foundations

If you read my blog regularly, you will know how much I absolutely LOVE the Lancome Teint Miracle Foundation. This is absolutely incredible if you want a light to medium coverage, a dewey to natural finish and a great range of shades. This is my absolute ‘Holy Grail’ foundation and I have not yet found one which I prefer to wear!

IMG_1009

The next product is the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation. This is quite similar to the Lancome Teint Miracle, but it has a slightly more natural finish, rather than dewey, and is a slightly lighter coverage. I love it for the same reasons as the previous foundation as it’s extremely light on the skin and has great staying power.

IMG_1011

In the affordable range, my favourite foundations are the Rimmel Wake Me Up and Rimmel Match Perfection. Wake Me Up has a beautiful dewey finish, and it makes your skin glow! It’s great for the Summer and also has a lovely scent to it. I would say it has a medium coverage as it covers the redness on my skin pretty well, but it’s not too full on. Match Perfection has a more natural finish, but a very similar coverage to Wake Me Up. I turn to this foundation usually for work because it lasts all day through my long shifts and still looks great by the end of them!

Foundation Facts and Handy Tips!

In this section of the blog post I’m going to mention a few facts and handy tips which I have for you! I have made a ton of errors with foundation before, so I have had a lot to learn!

– When shopping for your foundation shade, it is important to match it to your body, rather than your face. I like to match it to the area just below my neck, because my face is always slightly lighter than my body. This is also helpful for people who fake tan, as it’s not always a good idea to fake tan your face!

– The type of application is key to getting the perfect look. For example, some bb creams and cream compact foundations apply best when using your hands, however other liquid foundation work best when using a buffing brush. It’s all about trial and error.

– What type of finish are you after? Matte? Satin? Dewey? Natural?

– What coverage are you looking for? High? Medium? Light?

– If you, like me, suffer from redness, using a medium to light coverage foundation can be a good option and then applying a light concealer to the areas with redness, such as Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer. I find that high coverage foundations are only really necessary if you suffer from acne, acne scarring or if you just want a flawless face.

– Never apply a ton of foundation to cover up your blemishes, as this can start to look cakey. It is better to do thin layers and build it up carefully, and then use your concealer and set with a bit of powder. This looks a lot more natural.

– Don’t forget your T-zone! Setting your foundation with a light layer of powder on your T-zone area is very important. I don’t like to apply any to my cheeks during the day as I love the dewiness and natural highlight that it gives.

– Try before you buy! Especially with high end foundations, when you get colour matched, ask for a sample to take away before you purchase. This way, you can try it for a week or so and see how it reacts with your skin, whether it oxidises, how long it lasts, etc. The last thing you want is to spend £25 on a foundation for it to make your skin break out!

So there you have it guys! I hope this helps you to make an informed decision when you purchase your first or next foundation. If you have any other questions or any of your own tips then please comment below 🙂 Thanks very much for reading!

REN Clean Skincare Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Face Mask Review!

Hi guys! So as you may or may not know, every month I pay to receive a Birchbox. This Birchbox always come with some goodies such as makeup, hair products, skincare, with some little extras like chocolate! Recently in my Birchbox I received a face mask by the brand REN, called their Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. I had never heard of this brand before, but I love face masks so I was intrigued to give this a try.

IMG_2582

This product claims to;

  • Enhance radiance
  • Exfoliate to renew complexion
  • Improve skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine lines

It does say it is not suitable for sensitive skin, however, I applied it before reading this part (I know, pretty bad!) and kept it on anyway to see the results.

Application

  • Pleasant, fruity scent
  • Gel like formula, applies clear onto the skin
  • Very sticky to apply, didn’t feel great straight after applying it, a bit uncomfortable!
  • Lost it’s stickiness feel after a couple of minutes which was a benefit
  • Didn’t feel tight on the skin

Results

  • Skin was definitely more radiant
  • Foundation applied very smoothly after the face mask, so my face definitely had been exfoliated well
  • No breakouts the next day, which is sometimes a problem for me when I use new face masks

Overall, I was pretty impressed with the product. It was a bit uncomfortable upon application, however this feeling went away fairly quickly, and the end result was pretty good! I will carry on using this weekly to see how it goes with my skin, but I must say I probably will repurchase when my sample runs out. Out of 10, I would give it a 7.

Do you use face masks? If so, what ones are your favourites? Have you tried any that you haven’t liked? Let me know in the comment section below – I’d love to hear from you!
