Liz Earle Skincare Products Haul!

Hi girls! Today’s blog is a small one, just showing you the new products I have purchased from Birchbox’s website! As of lately my skin has started to break out a little, so I wanted to change up my skincare routine and see if it could make a difference.

Liz Earle has a great reputation for it’s incredible natural skincare. Their products contain natural ingredients such as chamomile, avocado oil, cocoa butter and eucalyptus essential oil. Their products also don’t test on animals which is a great benefit.

from the skincare range, I purchased;

  • Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser Starter Pack Kit – £15.50
  • Instant Boost Skin Tonic – £14.50
  • Instant Boost Skin Tonic Spritz – £14.75
  • Skin Repair Moisturiser for normal/combination skin – £20.25

From this evening I will be trying out this skincare regime morning and nighttime for the next couple of weeks. I will then report back to you on any changes I have found and whether I think these products are worth it for their cost! I hope to bring you good results 🙂

REN Clean Skincare Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Face Mask Review!

Hi guys! So as you may or may not know, every month I pay to receive a Birchbox. This Birchbox always come with some goodies such as makeup, hair products, skincare, with some little extras like chocolate! Recently in my Birchbox I received a face mask by the brand REN, called their Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. I had never heard of this brand before, but I love face masks so I was intrigued to give this a try.

This product claims to;

  • Enhance radiance
  • Exfoliate to renew complexion
  • Improve skin tone and reduce the appearance of fine lines

It does say it is not suitable for sensitive skin, however, I applied it before reading this part (I know, pretty bad!) and kept it on anyway to see the results.

  • Pleasant, fruity scent
  • Gel like formula, applies clear onto the skin
  • Very sticky to apply, didn’t feel great straight after applying it, a bit uncomfortable!
  • Lost it’s stickiness feel after a couple of minutes which was a benefit
  • Didn’t feel tight on the skin

  • Skin was definitely more radiant
  • Foundation applied very smoothly after the face mask, so my face definitely had been exfoliated well
  • No breakouts the next day, which is sometimes a problem for me when I use new face masks

Overall, I was pretty impressed with the product. It was a bit uncomfortable upon application, however this feeling went away fairly quickly, and the end result was pretty good! I will carry on using this weekly to see how it goes with my skin, but I must say I probably will repurchase when my sample runs out. Out of 10, I would give it a 7.

Do you use face masks? If so, what ones are your favourites? Have you tried any that you haven’t liked? Let me know in the comment section below – I’d love to hear from you!

A Review of the New Benefit Roller Lash Mascara!

Hi everyone! Today’s blog post is going to be first impression/review of the brand new Benefit Roller Lash mascara. I always get excited when Benefit bring out a new product because they are definitely one of my favourite make up brands! As well as that, their They’re Real mascara is definitely one of my favourites, so I felt like I absolutely HAD to try this out!

The Packaging

So, first thing’s first, the packaging. The Benefit Roller Lash packaging is to die for! It’s a beautiful black and coral pink which will definitely stand out on the beauty shelves. You can tell that they have really thought about the packaging as the colours remind me of how a chic hairdressers would have been decorated back in the day! I’ll post a picture below so you can see what I mean.

The Wand

The wand is quite unique as it’s pretty slim and has a slight curve to it. The bristles are very fine and close together, without being too long. From a first impression, the wand looks like the sort of thing I’d go for in a mascara. I don’t always like going for massive wands as it can make the application quite messy and can stop you getting right into the corners for that beautiful ‘cat-eye’ look.

The Price

This mascara is retailing at £19.50. I guess that is quite a lot for a mascara, but if you are into high-end mascaras anyway then it’s quite an average price to pay.

The Performance

I made sure to use this mascara for at least a week before I gave it a proper review. This is mainly because I can sometimes change my mind on mascaras, and some days my lashes are cooperative and others they really aren’t. So, to give it a fair review, I have been using it most days for over a week.

The consistency of the product isn’t too thick which is great as it means it doesn’t clump, but it adds a hell of a lot of length and, as the product states, it makes your lashes look super curled. I love this kind of mascara look, so if you are looking for more volume and a thick consistency then this probably isn’t the right mascara for you.

Because I have quite watery eyes I really struggle to find a mascara that doesn’t leave black under my eyes. This one left me with a tiny bit but nothing that a quick touch up wouldn’t cure. I really like the Roller Lash for a day time mascara but also feel like it would be perfect for evenings if you are planning on using a pair of really natural falsies.

I’ve uploaded some pictures below of me wearing the mascara so you can see the full effect. As you can see, the mascara really separates the lashes, lengthens and curls.

I would say the Roller Lash is definitely going to be in my Top 5 mascaras as it’s very natural but pretty. Out of 10 I would give it an 8! Have you tried the Benefit Roller Lash? If so, what did you think of it? Please leave comments below!

Stila Lip Glaze Review!

Hi everyone! Today’s blog is going to be about the Stila Lip Glaze. I recieved this in my BirchBox this month, and needless to say, I was very pleased! Stila is one of my favourite brands but it’s pretty expensive so I don’t own that many of their products! Stila Lip Glazes are meant to be lasting, hydrating and pigmented, as well as smelling gorgeous! They come in a ton of shades (over 30), some with glitter and others with a soft sheen to them. If you are into lip gloss then these should be right up your street!

IMG_0942 IMG_0945

I tested out my lip glaze, which is in the shade Gleam. My first impression was beautiful simplistic packaging, but a bit of a pain as it has one of those twisty applicators. You have to twist it tons when you first use the product and then all of a sudden you get an abundance of product, which isn’t good as it’s quite expensive (£15). However, once you have gotten over that initial step then it is easy to use. I thought the product smelt pleasant, and the application was easy as it applies with a soft brush. The texture of the product is incredible. Unlike most long lasting glosses, it doesn’t go all sticky on your lips and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable whilst you are wearing it. The stickiness is the main reason I tend to not turn to lip glosses anymore, but this one I will definitely be using! The product lasted on my lips for a good few hours before the texture started to change (it went a tad flakey), but it lasted a lot longer than other lip glosses do.

The shade I used, which was gleam, was a pale pink with a bit of shimmer and glitter added into the formula. It was very pretty and natural, and I paired it with Mac’s Creme Cup lipstick underneath, applying the Lip Glaze on top. This was a beautiful combination, and made my lips look very full and plump.

Overall, this product deserves an 8 out of 10! There’s a shade for everyone in the range, and although it’s pricier than other lip glosses, I think it is worth it! Just mind the twisty applicator at the beginning, as this was the only thing that let it down for me! If you have used this product let me know your thoughts in the comments down below, or whether you have any other products that could rival the Stila Lip Glaze as I would love to know!

Face Primers – Facts and Favourites!

So it’s only really been since the beginning of this year that I started using face primers. To be honest, last year I didn’t have a clue about which ones to use, or even why we should wear them! This year I have discovered a lot about make-up in general, but in this post I wanted to talk to you about why face primers should be used and which ones I love! If you want to hear about this then keep reading 🙂

  • Face primers are a great way of helping your skin depending on your skin type. For example, there particular ones that combat oils, and ones that ensure your skin stays moisturised throughout the day. Therefore, whether you have oily, normal, combination or dry skin, there is a primer out there to help you!
  • Primers don’t just look after your skin. They are also good for improving the look of your foundation. If you find your skin is so dry that foundation just looks like it’s ‘sitting’ on your skin, then a moisturising primer (such as Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Primer) could help your foundation to look flawless and more natural.
  • Now, the next point is something I struggle with, and that’s colour correction. Even though I’m quite lucky with my skin in terms of spots, I can suffer from redness, especially when I’m hot or when I have just cleansed, toned and moisturised, for example. If you suffer from this too, then a colour correcting primer will be right up your street. A great one which I use is Stila’s One Step Correct Primer. It’s quite pricey, but it’s definitely worth it for the quality of the product.

My Favourite Drugstore Primers

  • L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Primer – £9.99 – Great for moisturising and skin brightening
  • Maybelline Baby Skin Primer – £7.99 – I find this good for oil control and makes foundations glide on easily

My Favourite High End Primers

  • Stila One Step Correct Colour Corrector – £24.99 – This is amazing to counteract redness and is moisturising
  • Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation Primer – £25.20 – Great for dry skin and improves the look and staying power of foundations

So here you have two extremes in terms of pricing. They are all great products depending on what you are looking for in a primer, whether that be moisturising, colour correcting, oil control etc.

I hope you found this useful! Let me know if you’d like another post like this in the future on a different type of product, such as mascaras or blushers.

Speak to you all soon! Thanks for reading 🙂

First Impression of the L’Oreal L’Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks!

Hi everyone – how are you all? So recently I went on a little beauty haul and picked up a few goodies. When I was in Boots, I was most interested in the new (ish) L’Oreal L’Extraordinaire Liquid Lipsticks. These came in many shades ranging from nudes to bolds, had beautiful packaging and were fairly reasonably priced at £8.99 per lipstick.

I wanted to try out both a nude shade and a bold shade, so went for 401 Fuschia Drama and 600 Nude Vibrato.

600 Nude Vibrato

401 Fuschia Drama

So, for starters, as a first impression I was very impressed with this product. The colour payoff was excellent and they were extremely pigmented. I noticed this especially with the purple/pink shade, which only needed one coat. The product seemed to last about two-three hours until I needed to top up, which I would say is pretty decent for a drugstore lipgloss type product.

On the other hand, I would say I wasn’t much of a fan of the texture. When I applied it, I got really excited as it didn’t feel too sticky on the lips. However, once it had been on my lips for about five minutes or so, it went very tacky and sticky. This ruined it slightly for me, as I prefer a less sticky formula.

Overall, I am pretty impressed. The product has staying power, and beautiful shades. For the price, I would happily purchase more to add to the collection. The only downside would be the sticky texture of the product. I would give this a 7 out of 10.

Have you tried the L’Oreal L’Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick? If so, what were your thoughts on it?

Yves Saint Laurent Lipstick Review!

Hi everyone! I went for a massive shopping trip in Stratford City Westfield recently, and one thing that I really wanted to purchase was a YSL lipstick. I went over to the beautiful counter and saw the most stunning lipstick – the Yves Saint Laurent Luscious Texture Aqua Shine Effect lipstick (£24.50)! I was definitely up for purchasing a bright summery colour, and found my perfect shade in 15 – Rouge Volupte Shine. I can’t even explain how luxurious this product is to hold, as it’s quite heavy and the packaging is just to die for! The pictures don’t quite show how amazing the packaging is, but still, you can kind of see for yourself!

Is it bad that I wasn’t sure if I even wanted to use the lipstick? I didn’t want to ruin it at all! I found the first application quite heartbreaking because of this – ha! But anyway, some lipsticks I find on their first application are quite stiff to apply and soften as you use them – Not with this lipstick! It applied so smoothly, and the colour payoff was out of this world! It didn’t sit in the creases of my lips either which I find a lot of lipsticks have a tendency to do. I wore this lipstick on a night out, and I only reapplied it once! It has great staying power, and keeps it’s lovely glossy texture very well.

Considering this lipstick was a very expensive product, I would 100% purchase more. I would love to get one of their nudes, and a classic red shade to add to my collection!

Have you ever tried one of the YSL lipsticks? What was your opinion on them? I would love to know what you thought!

No7 New Improved Advanced Serum and Beautiful Skin Skincare Review!

So I hope your all enjoying this wonderful weather we are having at the moment! So basically I had a little haul yesterday in Boots at the No7 counter, as Ive decided that I want to start an anti ageing routine. Im only 23, but expression lines start to appear in your early 20s, and Id like to try and put these off as long as possible! No7 had 3 for 2 when I purchased these items, which kind of justified the purchase for me! oops!

Im going to talk about the No7 Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser first! It is priced at £9.50 for 150ml, which I reckon will last a fairly long time as you only have to use a small amount. I found this product quite interesting. It comes out of the tube as a gel like formula, which then turns to a milky substance as you apply it to your face (it should be applied on damp skin) and starts to feel slightly oily as you rub it in! It didn’t feel drying at all, and effectively removed all of my makeup, including my mascara! It was a tiny bit stingy on the eyes after I had rinsed it off, but this quickly passed. It left my skin feeling extremely soft and clean, so I would definitely recommend it from a first impression! I will continue to use this, as it is much cheaper then the Clinique Take the Day Off Balm that I have been using, that ran out much quicker then I was expecting! Overall, I would give this product an 8 out of 10!

The next product that I purchased was the No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser, which was priced up at £9.95 for a 200ml pump tube and it comes with a muslin cloth. I had heard great things about this product in reviews, and on the Boots website it was rated at 5 stars, so, needless to say I was expecting great things from this, and I definitely was not disappointed! This cleanser is just incredible! It has a thick consistency, which glides onto your face, and it has a pleasant smell. You then rinse the muslin cloth in warm water, rinse out the excess, and place it onto your face. I did this for ten minutes, and it was a lovely experience, as it feels like a face mask! Once you feel ready to rinse the cleanser off, you take the muslin cloth off, and can use it as an exfoliator to rub off the cleanser and remove the dead skin cells from your face. You then rinse your face in cold water to close your pores. I am very happy that I purchased this product, and will definitely use it at least twice a week! I feel that it is a gentler way to exfoliate then a scrub, which can sometimes aggravate my skin. I am going to give this product a 10 out of 10, as it was great value for money, it felt like a treat and it has more then one purpose! Fantastic work No7, you have my vote!

Here, we have the highly acclaimed No7 Improved Protect and Perfect Advanced Serum, which comes in at a pricey £23.95 for a 30ml tube. Now, this is the first anti-aging product that I have used, and I chose it because I have heard amazing things about the previous Protect and Perfect range, let alone the apparently improved version, which has just recently been released. I actually purchased this product about two to three weeks ago, and have been using it most mornings and evenings, so I can give a fairly good review of the product. However, when I went into Boots yesterday and spoke to the very helpful sales assistant on the No7 counter, I was informed that I wasn’t necessarily using the product correctly. It is absolutely vital that you apply this product after cleansing and toning, but BEFORE moisturising. If you apply this product alone, it will have basically no affect whatsoever. I would say about 50% of the time I did this, so I haven’t seen the full affect of the product, and have probably wasted my money slightly by doing this, however, now I know this I can use it properly in the future. I have still seen an improvement in my face though, as it looks brighter and the skin texture has definitely improved. I haven’t really got lines on my face (a slight expression line on my forehead, but nothing major), but I’m hoping this will allow me to keep my skin looking younger for many years to come. My mum has used the more advanced version of this product, and has seen great improvements in her face, however. If you use the correct amount of the serum, it should last about 5-6 weeks. I don’t have much left after about two to three weeks, but, I have definitely been using too much. You only need to use three tiny dollops (I now apply these to my hand, so that I don’t overuse it) to cover your entire face, and for it to be effective. From the improved appearance of my skin already, I would give this serum a 7 out of 10, but I may change this over time as I can now use it most effectively.

Lastly, we have the Beautiful Skin Day Cream, which comes in at £12.50. Just look at the packaging, its truly stunning! It looks like a serious high-end moisturiser, which I love! Now, this doesn’t have any anti-ageing ingredients in it, but, people always say that keeping your skin moisturised is the key to keeping your skin young, and although I don’t moisturise as often as I should (some moisturisers break me out), I want to start a proper routine where I moisturise day and night, so I thought I’d try this one, which was recommended to me by the very helpful No7 Sales Assistant. I didn’t purchase a separate night cream, as I find they can be too heavy for my skin, so Im aiming to use this one for both. Now, this isn’t quite as light as I’d like it to be (although now I think about it, I think I have applied slightly too much!), it is a lovely moisturiser. It has a slight scent, and rubs in fairly easily. It left my skin extremely soft and feeling very nourished! I am yet to see if it breaks me out, but since No7 products tend to be good for sensitive skin (which I have, ever so slightly), Im hoping this product will avoid breakouts! On a first impression basis, I will give it a 7 out of 10! I reckon it would be great to use as both a day and night cream, as you can apply slightly less during the day than you would at night, in order to give it a real treat as you sleep but to avoid any extra unwanted shine during the day.

So, have you tried any of these products? Or anything else by the No7 range? Please let me know in the comments below! I hope you have found this review helpful, and please let me know if you purchase any of these products and your experiences with them!

Thanks for reading, and have a lovely rest of your day!
