Get To Know Me Tag! 21 Questions!

1. Are you named after anyone? My name ‘Lara’ comes from the movie Doctor Zhivago. To this day I still haven’t watched the film!

2. When was the last time you cried? I am not actually sure! Sad films and tv programmes always make me shed a tear though so probably when I’ve watched Grey’s Anatomy recently.

3. Do you have kids? No.

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? This is a weird question to answer! It would depend what type of person I would be as to whether I liked myself haha!

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot? With close people, yes.

6. Will you ever bungee-jump? Absolutely not! I have the biggest fear of heights and falling, so I just couldn’t ever bring myself to do it!

7. What’s your favorite cereal? There’s so many! Krave is incredible though.

8. What’s the first thing you notice about people? Their eyes and body language!

9. What is your eye colour? Bright green.

10. Scary movie or happy endings? I actually love both! I can’t cope with scary movies if I’m by myself though. I just love the feeling of being scared during the film… it’s weird! When I’ve had a stressful day though and just want to relax then a happy ending is perfect.

11. Favorite smells? Chanel Chance, clean house, bleach, fresh bedding.

12. Summer or winter? I love Winter fashion more, but Summers at the beach with BBQs are amazing!

13. Computer or television? Computer for sure! I have netflix on here 😉

14. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home? The Caribbean probably!

15. Do you have any special talents? I like singing, so I’d probably have to say that!

16. Where were you born? England.

18. Do you have any pets? Yes, I have three cats! 2 massive fluffy rag dolls and a tiny ginger kitten.

19. Favorite movie? I love so many films… American Pie, Titanic, Marvel films, The Butterfly Effect, The Theory of Everything….

We Have a New Kitten!

Hi everyone! How are you all? Today’s lifestyle blog is basically about the fact that my partner and I now have our very own new kitten! He is a mixed breed, beautiful ginger kitten called Thor!

11163967_10156213865940425_2237951418383789577_n

I have always been an animal lover, and wanted us to have our own kitten as we got our own home in the last year. Searching for the right breeder was always something that I wanted to put as a top priority to make sure that the animal had been well looked after and been brought up the best it could. I found a lady from Surrey who was absolutely lovely, was an animal lover herself and had a lot of experience with breeding cats.

Having a ginger kitten was definitely also a priority as I didn’t want him to look like previous cats I had owned, so going for a different colour completely was always something I had wanted to do!

Thor is very much a people cat; he loves to cuddle just under your chin and whenever myself or my partner leave the room for longer then 10 seconds he meows until we return!

I would love to know what pets you have, or plan on getting! Or if you would like to know anything about bringing up kittens then please comment below and I will get back to you 🙂

My Summer Reading List!

Hi guys! So this is probably going to seem very random on my blog as I normally focus on makeup, but this year I want to expand my blog and get into lifestyle posts, instead of just beauty, skincare and things like that.

This year I have been really getting into reading. I have always loved reading books but I think for the past few years I feel I have neglected this interest, which is mainly due to the three year degree I did! Now that I have finished that, I feel like I don’t have to feel guilty anymore for reading a book that I choose to read… not an educational book! Here I have written down for you my Summer reading list!

Grey – E L James

How could I not put this on my list? It is being talked about EVERYWHERE, and I have heard very mixed reviews – Some absolutely love it, whilst others gave up on it half way through. I therefore want be able to give it my own opinion, and as I was a massive fan of the Fifty Shades Trilogy, I couldn’t not read this!

The Girl on The Train – Paula Hawkins

I have actually already started this book and It’s one of the first of this type of genre which I have read. So far I am very intrigued with where Hawkins is going with this story, but it’s got such a good write up so I really can’t wait! UPDATE – Finished the book and was SO impressed! Definitely worth a read!

Dark Places – Gillian Flynn

I have previously read Gone Girl by the same author and absolutely loved it! I read this whilst on holiday in Menorca and I just remember being absolutely stuck in to this book. I couldn’t put it down!

Sharp Objects – Gillian Flynn

For the same reasons as ‘Dark Places’, I have put this on the ‘to read’ list!

Sapphire – Katie Price

I really love a good girly Summer read, and Katie Price really does this for me! I love the story lines, the romance, the drama! I have read many of her books previously, and this is one I have owned for years but just never got round to reading it!

Gold Diggers – Tasmina Perry

I read a book called Private Lives by Perry about two years ago, which was based around a Law Firm. This book took me a little time to get into but all in all I loved it. This encouraged me to purchase another of her books on my Kindle, so I really must give this a read!

My Trip to the USA – San Francisco!

I thought it was about time that I wrote a blog post on my recent holiday to the USA! As most of you who regularly read my blog would know, I went on a two week round trip to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas with my childhood and blogger friend Megan. We booked this in January and I can’t believe how quick it came around! Before we knew it, we were on the 11 hour plane journey watching films until our hearts were content!

IMG_0644

So our first destination was San Francisco. We wanted to start here because we knew how great it would be for sight seeing, and how chilled the area was. So, it would be a nice relaxing way to start off our trip! I have to say, I wish we had planned longer in San Fran, as we only really had three nights there as we were absolutely drained by the first evening from the travelling. During our stay we enjoyed many amazing American breakfasts, such as french toast (WOW), pancakes, bacon and eggs and more. We found that their portions were so huge that we didn’t need three meals a day, as most days we ate just one or two, which of course, left more money for shopping ;). One cafe I would recommend you definitely visit, is the Hollywood Cafe. The service was super fast, and the food was incredible. They served us the best french toast with fresh fruit such as strawberries and banana. We felt full for the entire day just from that one meal!

We did a ton of sightseeing whilst we were there and I will make a list below of the places/sights/areas we visited;

  • Pier 39
  • Fisherman’s Wharf
  • Golden Gate Bridge
  • Golden Gate Park
  • Union Square
  • Museum of Fine Arts
  • Alcatraz
  • Open top bus of the Downtown area

I feel like there’s many more places I would liked to have done, but we just didn’t have enough time to fit it all in. I’m pretty proud of what we achieved in our three days, however! One of the most memorable experiences was going on one of the cable carts! Definitely something you have to do – I was really holding on for my life, especially when we were going up the seriously steep roads! It was great fun though, and what a way to see San Francisco!

IMG_0635

Out of the entire San Francisco stay, I would say the most memorable part was Alcatraz Island. If you are heading to San Fran, you must book this trip! Not only is it educational and absolutely fascinating, but you get some beautiful views of the city too! I am quite the scaredy cat, so I was quite petrified before we got on the boat to head towards the penitentiary, mainly because we were on the night tour and I had been told that the building is haunted. Don’t get me wrong, when we were on the boat and approaching the Island, it did look pretty creepy! However, when your in there and listening to the audio tour, your not actually scared (well, I wasn’t!). It’s just so interesting hearing about the famous escapes, the prisoners and the history, that you forget about all the rumours and everything else. Besides, there are so many other people with you on the tour that your never alone. If I went back, I would love to do this trip again!

If you are a big shopper like me, then I couldn’t recommend Union Square enough! The shops available are to die for (including Macy’s, Benefit, Victoria’s Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch, and MANY more!) as there’s such variety! We especially loved it because it wasn’t just a shopping mall like you get in the UK. Most of it was outdoor based, so the shops were in a kind of massive high street, all arranged into blocks. It was so huge that they had a Westfield Shopping Centre amongst it! We didn’t manage to make it around the entire area, but I think if we had then it would of been a bit dangerous as I definitely spent a bit too much money that day! Another recommended restaurant would have to be the Cheesecake Factory, which is located on the top floor (I think) of Macy’s. Before I went there I hadn’t actually realised that it was a restaurant – I thought it just served desserts! So we were pleasantly surprised when we checked the menu outside and made our way in, trying to decide what we wanted to eat! I had the Oreo Cheesecake which was absolute heaven.

As this blog post is already quite long, I will be writing about Los Angeles and Las Vegas very soon! I hope you all enjoyed reading about our trip, and if you haven’t been to San Fran before, definitely have it on your ‘Places to visit’ list! It was such a beautiful place and I will definitely be going back to visit, for sure!

Thanks for reading!

I’m off to America…

So basically I’m off to America in just a few days, and I could not be more excited! Myself and my fellow blogger friend Megan booked this holiday at the beginning of this year, without much planning, because we just basically wanted to get away after our graduation!

hollywood-sign-closeup

It all started with the decision to go and watch Britney Spears in Vegas as her Residency looked pretty good, and we have both been fans of her since we were at middle school! So a weekend in Vegas, turned into a week in Vegas, which then expanded into two weeks travelling to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas! Funnily enough, Britney isn’t even performing whilst we are there (oops!).

We have lots of plans of places to visit and things to do whilst we are away, such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, Universal Studios, the Warner Bros and Paramount Studio tours, Venice Beach, Calvin Harris…. the list goes on! Probably the most exciting thing about the trip is going to be staying on Hollywood Blvd, as I have never been there before and just can’t wait to explore it all.

Unknown

I have big BIG plans to purchase some makeup and beauty products out in America, so keep your eye out for new product reviews coming in the near future, from brands like Too Faced, Stila, Mac and Benefit!

I may be uploading blogs whilst I’m away (depending on internet and wifi access) so keep your eyes peeled! Speak to you all soon!
