A Review of the New Benefit Roller Lash Mascara!

Hi everyone! Today’s blog post is going to be first impression/review of the brand new Benefit Roller Lash mascara. I always get excited when Benefit bring out a new product because they are definitely one of my favourite make up brands! As well as that, their They’re Real mascara is definitely one of my favourites, so I felt like I absolutely HAD to try this out!

The Packaging

So, first thing’s first, the packaging. The Benefit Roller Lash packaging is to die for! It’s a beautiful black and coral pink which will definitely stand out on the beauty shelves. You can tell that they have really thought about the packaging as the colours remind me of how a chic hairdressers would have been decorated back in the day! I’ll post a picture below so you can see what I mean.

The Wand

The wand is quite unique as it’s pretty slim and has a slight curve to it. The bristles are very fine and close together, without being too long. From a first impression, the wand looks like the sort of thing I’d go for in a mascara. I don’t always like going for massive wands as it can make the application quite messy and can stop you getting right into the corners for that beautiful ‘cat-eye’ look.

The Price

This mascara is retailing at £19.50. I guess that is quite a lot for a mascara, but if you are into high-end mascaras anyway then it’s quite an average price to pay.

The Performance

I made sure to use this mascara for at least a week before I gave it a proper review. This is mainly because I can sometimes change my mind on mascaras, and some days my lashes are cooperative and others they really aren’t. So, to give it a fair review, I have been using it most days for over a week.

The consistency of the product isn’t too thick which is great as it means it doesn’t clump, but it adds a hell of a lot of length and, as the product states, it makes your lashes look super curled. I love this kind of mascara look, so if you are looking for more volume and a thick consistency then this probably isn’t the right mascara for you.

Because I have quite watery eyes I really struggle to find a mascara that doesn’t leave black under my eyes. This one left me with a tiny bit but nothing that a quick touch up wouldn’t cure. I really like the Roller Lash for a day time mascara but also feel like it would be perfect for evenings if you are planning on using a pair of really natural falsies.

I’ve uploaded some pictures below of me wearing the mascara so you can see the full effect. As you can see, the mascara really separates the lashes, lengthens and curls.

I would say the Roller Lash is definitely going to be in my Top 5 mascaras as it’s very natural but pretty. Out of 10 I would give it an 8! Have you tried the Benefit Roller Lash? If so, what did you think of it? Please leave comments below!

Pretty Muted Lilac and Silver Eye Makeup Tutorial for Valentines Day!

Hi guys!

I am so excited to show you this tutorial because I was extremely happy with the end result. This is a muted lilac and silver eye makeup look with a rose pink nude lip. I wanted something that would be appropriate for Valentines day with it being sexy and smokey but pretty at the same time by not going too over the top. If you want to see how I achieved this look then keep reading!

So lets get started…

IMG_0955

Once I had my foundation base and eyebrows sorted, I chose to use the Mary Lou Manizer highlighter by The Balm on the tops of my cheek bones. This product has a beautiful bright sheen which gives your skin some dewiness. It is one of my favourite highlighters for sure, so if you haven’t tried this out then I definitely recommend it! I then wanted to add some bronzer to my face, so I went with the Benefit Hoola bronzer, by lightly contouring my cheeks and blending it upwards. To finish off the cheeks I used a tiny bit of Benefit Sugarbomb blusher.

Then we come onto the best part, the eyes! For this makeup look i used the new Urban Decay Vice 3 palette! It has so many different shades so endless looks can be created with this product!

IMG_0925

I started with the shade Truth on the base of the eyes, which is a matte cream shade. It is acting as the transition shade for this look to make blending a lot easier. I then went with the shade Downfall in the crease, but not going too high. Downfall is a matte light golden brown. I then used the shade Angel, which is a shimmery gold shade, on the outer V area to deepen this part. I then used a slightly darker muted lilac shade called Defy, and applied this on the outer V and through the crease. This shade also went underneath my eye lining it, with Angel added on top very lightly.

I wanted my lashes to be quite dramatic so I chose the Diorshow Blackout Mascara. It is a very thick mascara so needs to be applied quite carefully to ensure you don’t get clumps, but if it’s applied right then it is absolutely stunning! I finished off the look with one of my favourite Mac Lipsticks, Faux. This is a beautiful satin rose pink shade, which is slightly nude rather than a bright colour. I wanted something natural but pretty for this Valentines look!

2014 Beauty Favourites!

Hi everyone! So today’s blog is going to be about my favourite products from 2014! I know this is slightly delayed because January was an extremely busy month for me, but also it took me a while to think of the main products I have been using since I have found so many products.

2014 was a massive year for me as it was the year I started my beauty blog, so as you can imagine, I have found a TON of new products from brands I hadn’t even heard of before! I want to also do a favourites blog post for non-beauty related things, but let me know in the comments below if this is something you would like to see! I’m not going to talk a lot about each product, mainly because if you read my blog often you have most likely heard me rave about them before! But I will obviously tell you why I love them!

Primer

– Stila One Step Correct Primer – This is a new product for me but towards the end of 2014 this become my favourite primer! It corrects redness and also makes your foundation apply smoothly.

– L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer – This primer helps your skin to glow from within – It gives a beautiful natural sheen underneath your foundation.

Foundation

– Lancome Teint Miracle Bare Skin Foundation – This is my holy grail foundation. It’s natural, light coverage and just looks beautiful on the face.

– Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation – Another of my favourite foundations. Again, this one is very natural and light coverage but just has a beautiful finish.

Concealer

– Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer – For a drugstore concealer, this product is amazing! It’s perfect for under the eyes as it hides any dark circles without creasing.

– Nars Creamy Concealer – This is quite an expensive concealer, but for the coverage it gives, I don’t mind paying! You only have to use a tiny bit and it doesn’t crease which is great.

IMG_2256-0

Powder

– Rimmel Stay Matte – This has been my powder of choice for years, and I can’t see that changing anytime soon!

IMG_2257-0

Eyebrow Products

– Benefit Browzings – I love this product as it comes with both a powder and a tacky gel/wax type product too. I tend to only use the powder, however, but it has great pigmentation and lasts all day!

– Benefit Gimme Brow – I have only recently found Gimme Brow but I love it. It sets your eyebrows in place for the entire day, whilst adding a bit of colour and texture to your brows. Great for a quick and easy solution!

Bronzer

– Lord & Berry Bronzer – I’m currently loving the Lord & Berry bronzer in the shade Sienna. It’s great for contouring and just adding a touch to your cheeks for that beautiful golden glow. You don’t need much product either which is fab.

– Benefit Hoola Bronzer – I only use this bronzer as a contour as it’s matte, but it’s the best one I own! It is extremely pigmented so you don’t need to apply much.

IMG_2258-0

Blush

– Benefit Hervana – I have a bit of an obsession with purchasing blushers, so I’ve managed to collect pretty much the entire range of their blushers! This one is my favourite though as it doesn’t have a shimmer so nice and natural for daytime use.

– Sleek Contour kit in Light – I love the blush from this kit. I would say it’s quite similar to the extremely popular Nars Orgasm! It has a lovely shimmer to it so I use this one when I’m going out in the evening.

IMG_2259

Highlighter

– The Balm Mary Lou Manizer – This highlighter is the best, EVER! It’s so pigmented and has the most gorgeous glow. If I have a dramatic eyeshadow look I love to complete the makeup by adding this on the tops of my cheek bones and in the inner corners of my eyes.

– Stila Kitten – I love this highlighter because it has two shades depending on how you want the highlight to look. One is more natural whereas the other is dramatic, so it’s great to take away on a trip if you are limited with luggage!

IMG_2260-0

Eyeshadow Palettes

– Urban Decay Naked – The original Urban Decay Naked palette will always be my number one palette, mainly because it’s so versatile and the eyeshadows are an incredible quality.

– Smashbox Full Exposure – The reason I love this palette is because it has great daytime natural shades and some gorgeous glitter shades for the evening. The quality of the product is fantastic and the packaging is also beautiful!

Lip Products

These were the hardest for me to pick, so I had to have three!

Mac Faux – This shade is stunning, a kind of muted rose shade! I love the finish of it and it’s my go-to Mac lipstick for sure.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte 13 – When I want to go for a more sheer lipstick, this is the one I choose. It’s a peachy pink shade with a beautiful sheen to it which I love wearing in the Summer time.

Mac Creme Cup – This is my favourite nude lipstick as it’s a pink-toned shade. It looks gorgeous with near enough any eye makeup look too, so it’s extremely versatile and always looks pretty.

IMG_2268

So I hope you enjoyed my 2014 favourites! These are all excellent products In my opinion, and if you are starting out with your makeup collection and were looking for some good quality products I couldn’t recommend these enough!

Please comment below with any of your favourite products as I’m always looking for new ones to try!
