Urban Decay Vice 3 Palette First Impression/Review!

Hi everyone! I’m really excited to be writing this blog because it’s my first time being able to swatch the shades from the new Urban Decay Vice 3 eyeshadow palette. I got this as a christmas present from my parents and I was so excited when I opened it up! This palette costs £42 from the Urban Decay website and includes 20 brand new shades (a variety of shimmers and mattes), a double ended eyeshadow brush, a large mirror and a makeup case.

As you can see, they have definitely gone all out with the packaging. It makes a statement, and without even seeing the shades you can probably guess that they are going to be bold and ‘eye-popping’! I’ve read a few reviews with people saying that the packaging didn’t really do it for them, but I love it personally. It’s quite compact considering the numbers of eyeshadows included, and the huge stand-alone mirror makes it a seriously useful product to own!

I love the shades they have picked for this palette as you have some neutral shades and muted ones for daytime use and more understated makeup looks, but then you also have the beautiful bright shades to play around with and create some great looks.

There is a mixture of matte and shimmer shades to cater for everyone, which I also think is great. When I was swatching the shades, most of them were very pigmented and buttery. However, the shades which I wasn’t as impressed with were Heroine and Alien. They seemed ever so slightly chalkier to me and less pigmented, which you may be able to see on the swatches below.

Here we have the shades (from left to right) Truth, Undone, Downfall and DTF. I chose to swatch these separately as these were the palette’s neutrals and transition shades. All of these shades had great colour payoff, and I thought Truth would be a great highlighter for the brow-bone.

Here you can see the next 8 shades with and without flash. From left to right you have Dragon, Freeze, Heroine, Brokedown, Vanity, Lucky, Reign and Bobby Dazzle. As I stated before, I wasn’t that impressed with Heroine, but my favourites out of these shades would have to be Vanity and Lucky as these are just stunning. I will possibly be doing a eye shadow look soon using these!

Lastly, we have my favourite part of the palette. From left to right you have Alien, Alchemy, Bondage, Sonic, Last Sin, Angel, Defy and Revolver. These are simply stunning, with my favourites being Bondage, Sonic, Angel and Defy. I found Alien much harder to swatch as it wasn’t as pigmented as the rest, but I reckon you could use it on the centre of your lid to make your eyes appear larger.

Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this product! Urban Decay eyeshadows are definitely my favourites, with already owning Naked, Naked 3 and their Sustainable palette. This palette has made me want to look into the previous Vice palettes as I’d never really considered purchasing one before. If you don’t really own a palette and want to start then this could be great for you due to the diverse shades you get in it!

Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see a tutorial using this product with a few different eye looks!

Thanks for reading!
