I’m off to America…

So basically I’m off to America in just a few days, and I could not be more excited! Myself and my fellow blogger friend Megan booked this holiday at the beginning of this year, without much planning, because we just basically wanted to get away after our graduation!

It all started with the decision to go and watch Britney Spears in Vegas as her Residency looked pretty good, and we have both been fans of her since we were at middle school! So a weekend in Vegas, turned into a week in Vegas, which then expanded into two weeks travelling to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas! Funnily enough, Britney isn’t even performing whilst we are there (oops!).

We have lots of plans of places to visit and things to do whilst we are away, such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, Universal Studios, the Warner Bros and Paramount Studio tours, Venice Beach, Calvin Harris…. the list goes on! Probably the most exciting thing about the trip is going to be staying on Hollywood Blvd, as I have never been there before and just can’t wait to explore it all.

I have big BIG plans to purchase some makeup and beauty products out in America, so keep your eye out for new product reviews coming in the near future, from brands like Too Faced, Stila, Mac and Benefit!

I may be uploading blogs whilst I’m away (depending on internet and wifi access) so keep your eyes peeled! Speak to you all soon!

How to Naturally Make your Lips Look Big and Plump – Tips and Tricks!

I don’t know about you, but I’m always a fan of making my lips look big and plump, especially on a night out! Sometimes it can be a bit much during the day, but if your going to an event and  know photos are going to be taken then making your lips appear slightly bigger then they actually are, can definitely perfect your makeup look!

I have a few little tips and tricks which I have learnt over the past 8-9 months since seriously getting into makeup, so here they are!

Lip Colour – Lip colour is a very important thing to think about when you are trying to make your lips appear larger. It is usually best to go for a more natural/nude tone lip shade, rather than a bold shade, as this can make your lips appear thinner then usual. You don’t have to go for a plain shade necessarily, but just something not too dark or bright. Also, a sheer or shiny finish lip product is always preferable over a matte finish.

Cupids bow – This is one of my favourite things to do as it is so simple but makes a big difference to your lips. Taking a highlighter powder, preferably over a cream, dab a small amount onto the top middle section of your lips (this is known as your cupids bow). This makes your lips look extra ‘pouty’, and just gives a lovely effect.

Bronzer – Another of my little ‘tips” is to use a tiny bit of bronzer just underneath your bottom lip. This creates more of a shadow, and so makes your lips appear as if they are sticking out more than they actually are! It’s worth giving this a little practise as it has to be subtle and very blended, and should only be in the tiny area underneath your lip, not further down onto your chin.

Lip Liner – I find that lip liner is one of those products that many people avoid because they are scared it won’t look right or that they are doing it wrong (I was one of those people). It’s so important to use a similar shade liner to the lip product shade you are applying, as you don’t really want it to be obvious. Lip liner is a great way of avoiding your lip product from bleeding, as well as making your lips look plump! I don’t really overdraw my lips much as I have quite big lips naturally, and find it can look a bit silly on me, but I like to slightly overdraw on the outer sections of the top lip, as this is where lips can go quite small and thin. I like to line my lips on top of my natural line, and once I have done this I will go a tiny bit over this line, but only in this area. This ensures the lips still look natural, but just have a nice ‘plump’ effect to them. If you do tend to avoid liner, don’t! It’s seriously very easy if you practise a bit first, and it’s a great effective product to add into your makeup routine.

Gloss – This is the last tip I have for you. A great way to make your bottom lip appear bigger is to add a tiny bit of gloss in the centre. This creates a bit of light reflection, like with the cupids bow tip, and just gives your lips that extra bit of shine and roundness to them!

I hope you enjoyed my tips, and don’t hesitate to comment below if you have any more that I could learn from too! Anyone can make their lips look gorgeous, no matter what shape or size they are! It’s all about working with what you have, and learning what suits you.

Dark Glitter Eyes with Nude Lip Makeup Tutorial Featuring Smashbox!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all well. This makeup tutorial is going to be absolutely perfect for any night out you may have planned, as it features dramatic dark eyes with gorgeous golden glitter. I’m just going to focus on my eyes for this tutorial, but will mention all the products used below for you!

Face products used:

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation in 102

Benefit Browzings in Medium

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Light

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Sleek Face Form Palette Blush

This eye look is actually quite simple to do. There are a few different products and shades used but it’s quite quick and gives a gorgeous sparkly effect which I really enjoyed going out wearing.

The entire eyeshadow look was created using the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette. I started with the shade M3 and took that through the crease as our transition shade, and then patted it onto the lid. Then, I patted M2 onto the outer half of the lid, and slightly through the crease on top of the previous colour. I then took the darkest shade, M1 and used this on the outer V and slightly through the outer half of the crease to create a defined effect.

Once I had fully blended the eyeshadows, I took a makeup wipe and used it to create a harsh eyeshadow line from the outer corner of my eye to the tip of my brow. I then topped up my foundation in this area to make sure it looks flawless and blended.

I then took the gold glitter gel from my MUA luxe palette, and put this into the inner corner of my eye and onto the inner half of my lid, making sure to not bring it into the crease as I wanted a slight cut crease effect here.

I then took Benefit’s Bad Gal eyeliner in Espresso and just lined my lash line and in my waterline also. I wanted a slight cat eye effect with this look and used the L’Oreal Super liner in black to create a thin line on my lash line and brought this out into a thin delicate flick. For this look I wanted super long lashes, and so went for Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ Mascara as this makes my lashes beautiful and long. This mascara is a great base for false lashes if you are looking for a seriously dramatic look. The false lashes that I chose were the Eylure Lengthening No. 035. These are a bit more natural then I would have liked, but nevertheless they still gave that extra definition and texture to the lashes!

So here is the finished look! I was so happy with how this came out – very sultry but dramatic and great for any evening event you have planned!
