Brown Smokey Eyes with a Nude Lip !

Hi everyone!

I just want to start with a pretty huge apology for the serious lack of posts lately! I have been very ill the past two weeks and have been kind of avoiding makeup! I have to admit it did feel a bit strange applying foundation for the first time in that long, but, at the same time it was lovely to make the effort again!

Because it had been so long since applying makeup I decided to go for a brown smokey eye for the evening, and paired this with a simple nude lip. Keep reading to see how I achieved the look!

I used Benefit’s Porefessional Primer to start off – I feel like I don’t reach for this primer enough, even though I love it! I think it’s because a lot of my primers are drugstore, so I kind of feel a bit bad using up my expensive one! Silly I know, so I think I will try to use it more often! I then took my Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation. I used two shades and mixed them together, as the one I had before was far too light but I didn’t just want to throw it out! The shades I mixed were Light Porcelain and True Nude. I buffed this into my skin using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I find the key to a perfect foundation application is lots of buffing. It stops the foundation from sitting on top of your skin, causing it to look very unnatural.

The bronzer used for this look was the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. This was the first time Id used the bronzer, and it is incredible! Extremely pigmented, and was the perfect shade for contouring. I used it to contour the hollows of my cheeks, and around the edges of my face, to make it look nice and slim 🙂 I then used Sleek’s Face Form Contour and blush palette to add some colour to the apples of my cheeks, and then to highlight them, also. My eyebrows were filled in with my holy grail, Jane Iredale’s Bitty Brow Kit. This product is incredible, so if you haven’t tried it yet, then do!

Next I went onto my eyes. I used my much loved Mac Palette for this look, taking the colour All That Glitters onto my lid firstly, and then through the crease and just above. I have quite a large gap between my crease and my eyebrows, so I like to take my eyeshadow up slightly higher so its still obvious. I then took the shade Mulch by Mac and took this through the crease and blended it slightly above. Make sure to blend this colour as much as possible to avoid any harsh lines, as it is quite a dark shade. I then added All That Glitters under the eye with a liner shadow brush, and put a touch of Mac’s Nylon into the inner corners to brighten up my eyes.

To line my eyes, I took benefit’s Bad Gal Liner in Brown, and just lined my upper lash line with a soft line. I then used Lancome’s Hypnose Mascara in Black. To finish off the eyes, eyelashes had to be applied! I’m currently loving Eylure’s Lengthening No. 116 lashes! These are so natural looking but just make your eye makeup look incredible! I have used them three times so far and they are still good for at least another wear! You can see the difference here – The first picture is with lashes, the second without! They add so much volume and length without looking over the top!

For my lips, I chose one of my favourite nude lipsticks, which is Pure Zen by Mac. This is stunning, and I felt it really complemented the brown, shimmery eyes!
