My Current Skincare Routine!

I find that skincare is one of those things that people are either completely dedicated too, or they just don’t really bother with it. I used to be that person who would only take my makeup off at night with a baby wipe and then just go to sleep, but, since I have really got into makeup, I just can’t do that anymore!

So, what kind of products do I use? When I wake up in the morning, I start with my Boots Cucumber Wipes, and just apply one of these to my face. These really agree with my skin, and feel so refreshing in the morning. I would then follow with a toner, and the one that I’m currently using is the L’Oreal Skin Perfection Velvety Soft Toner. The smell of this product is incredible, and it’s very reasonably priced. I love the formula too, as I find that some toners can be very strong smelling and can make my face sting, but this one is incredibly gentle. Following this, I would then apply my No7 Protect and Perfect Serum. I haven’t been using a serum for long, maybe just over two to three months, but I feel this has been a great addition to my skincare routine. The texture of my skin has changed for the better, and breakouts rarely occur for me anymore. Last but not least, I will apply my moisturiser. I am extremely fussy with moisturiser when it comes to my face, as certain brands can make me breakout. The first one I have found which agrees with my skin is the No7 Beautiful Skin Moisturiser. This is so light and gentle, and I find it’s also great for night time too. I love to slap on tons of moisturiser at night, knowing that my skin will rejuvenate and renew itself whilst I sleep.

One thing I have definitely learnt from trying out different skincare products, is that price does not always mean quality. It’s all about finding the products that suit your skin. I believe that if you purchase a pricey serum and moisturiser, then a cheaper cleanser and toner can balance it out, as long as they suit your skin, depending on your skin type. I have a normal skin type, with slight sensitivity, so that’s why I love a gentle cleanser and toner to avoid using anything harsh on my skin.

What products do you use? I would love to hear about any effective skincare products, so please comment below 🙂

Brown Smokey Eyes with a Nude Lip !

Hi everyone!

I just want to start with a pretty huge apology for the serious lack of posts lately! I have been very ill the past two weeks and have been kind of avoiding makeup! I have to admit it did feel a bit strange applying foundation for the first time in that long, but, at the same time it was lovely to make the effort again!

Because it had been so long since applying makeup I decided to go for a brown smokey eye for the evening, and paired this with a simple nude lip. Keep reading to see how I achieved the look!

I used Benefit’s Porefessional Primer to start off – I feel like I don’t reach for this primer enough, even though I love it! I think it’s because a lot of my primers are drugstore, so I kind of feel a bit bad using up my expensive one! Silly I know, so I think I will try to use it more often! I then took my Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation. I used two shades and mixed them together, as the one I had before was far too light but I didn’t just want to throw it out! The shades I mixed were Light Porcelain and True Nude. I buffed this into my skin using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I find the key to a perfect foundation application is lots of buffing. It stops the foundation from sitting on top of your skin, causing it to look very unnatural.

The bronzer used for this look was the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. This was the first time Id used the bronzer, and it is incredible! Extremely pigmented, and was the perfect shade for contouring. I used it to contour the hollows of my cheeks, and around the edges of my face, to make it look nice and slim 🙂 I then used Sleek’s Face Form Contour and blush palette to add some colour to the apples of my cheeks, and then to highlight them, also. My eyebrows were filled in with my holy grail, Jane Iredale’s Bitty Brow Kit. This product is incredible, so if you haven’t tried it yet, then do!

Next I went onto my eyes. I used my much loved Mac Palette for this look, taking the colour All That Glitters onto my lid firstly, and then through the crease and just above. I have quite a large gap between my crease and my eyebrows, so I like to take my eyeshadow up slightly higher so its still obvious. I then took the shade Mulch by Mac and took this through the crease and blended it slightly above. Make sure to blend this colour as much as possible to avoid any harsh lines, as it is quite a dark shade. I then added All That Glitters under the eye with a liner shadow brush, and put a touch of Mac’s Nylon into the inner corners to brighten up my eyes.

To line my eyes, I took benefit’s Bad Gal Liner in Brown, and just lined my upper lash line with a soft line. I then used Lancome’s Hypnose Mascara in Black. To finish off the eyes, eyelashes had to be applied! I’m currently loving Eylure’s Lengthening No. 116 lashes! These are so natural looking but just make your eye makeup look incredible! I have used them three times so far and they are still good for at least another wear! You can see the difference here – The first picture is with lashes, the second without! They add so much volume and length without looking over the top!

For my lips, I chose one of my favourite nude lipsticks, which is Pure Zen by Mac. This is stunning, and I felt it really complemented the brown, shimmery eyes!

Glamorous and Elegant Daytime Makeup Tutorial for Graduation!

Hi everyone! So yesterday I officially graduated from the University of Brighton with a first class degree with honours in Retail Marketing. I have honestly had the best few years of my life at University, and I will greatly miss it! So many friends have been made, along with incredible memories that will last a lifetime.

As I knew the pictures taken on the day of my graduation would be so important to me, I wanted to make sure I looked my best! I decided to go for something not too over the top, but still glamorous and elegant. I was going to be attending a meal afterwards too, so it had to be appropriate for both daytime and night time!

I chose to go for a dewey natural base, so I started with the L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer. This gives any foundation a fantastic dewiness underneath, so it really makes your skin glow! My chosen foundation was the Lancome Teint Miracle Bare Skin Foundation, in the shade 02. Out of every foundation I own (I have a fairly large collection now!), I will always go back to this one! It’s simply perfect. It lasts all day (just what I needed as it was very hot!) and looks extremely natural as well as feeling lightweight on the skin. I buffed this into my skin using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush.

Next came the bronzer. I used the Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer as this is my holy grail right now. I contoured with it as well as using a tad just over my entire face. Im quite tanned at the moment anyway, so I thought it would just give my skin that added glow to look fantastic in pictures! I chose Benefit’s Coralista Blush as a pop of colour on my cheeks, as well as a little bit of Sleek’s highlighter on my cheeks from the Face Form Contour Kit in Light.

So once my base was done, I moved onto my eyebrows and eyes. I chose the Jane Iredale Bitty Brow kit in Brunette for my eyebrows. I absolutely love this kit, as the shadow is extremely pigmented and it comes with a mirror and three brushes, as well as wax.

For the eyes, I used the Urban Decay Naked 1 Palette. I felt that I’d been neglecting this palette recently, and I’m not too sure why! It is one of my absolute favourites – I think I just literally forgot about it! I started with the shade Naked, and just took this through my crease so give my eyes some warmth! Next, I took the shade Sidecar, and just patted this onto the inner half of my lid, as I wanted this to brighten up my eyes. I then patted Smog onto the outer half of my lid, and blended the two shades into each other to create a kind of ombre effect. Next, I took the matte brown shade Buck and took this through my crease, building on the warmth that the shade Naked gave earlier. I then used Buck again to line the outer half of my under eyes.

In order to line my upper lid, I used the newly raved about Benefit’s They’re Real Liner! Im still getting used to this liner, but it really is great. The applicator makes it incredibly easy to create a gorgeous cat eye, and it seriously doesn’t budge! For my lashes, I applied some Maybelline The Falsies mascara, with Eylure Lengthening No 116 false lashes over the top. I don’t usually use false lashes but I wanted to start using more natural ones for special occasions 🙂

Lastly, the lips! I went for Mac’s Faux, as this is my holy grail lipstick and looks perfect for both evening and daytime wear!

What do you think of the finished look? I hope you all enjoyed reading my latest post 🙂
