Night out make-up tutorial! Dramatic bronze/brown Smokey Eyes with Red Lips

Hi everyone!

I was so happy to see that everyone seemed to like my spring/summer inspired make-up tutorial, so, I decided I would do another one! I had a request to do a smokey eye, so I took that idea and did a bronze/brown dramatic smokey eye with bright red lips! This is a lot more eye makeup than I am usually used to (even when clubbing!) but I had so much fun doing it, and I think I will recreate this look myself for a night out sometime soon! I hope you enjoy it 🙂

So I started with the Bourjois Happy Light Primer, and used the Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream on my problem areas. I then followed with the Happy Light Foundation, in shade Rose Vanilla. This foundation is one of my favourite drug store ones, as it had a lovely slightly dewey finish, and feels lovely on my skin. Next, i used Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer, on a few problem areas I have and underneath my eyes to brighten up my face.

I added the Benefit Sugarbomb (my favourite blush at the moment!) on the apples of my cheeks. Next, I applied the Bourjois Chocolate Bronzing Powder, which was actually the first time I had used it, and I love it! It smells like chocolate, and has a lovely tone to it. I then touched up my eyebrows as usual with the Benefit Browzings in Medium. Finishing off my face makeup, I used the Sleek Face Form Contouring and Blush Palette, just to use the highlighter as this is just amazing! I added this to the tops of my cheek bones and on my cupid’s bow (the top line of your lip, just in the middle!).

Now, for the exciting part! The eyes! I chose to use my trusty Naked Palette by Urban Decay for this look, as I find you can create such beautiful smokey eyes with it! A lot of people have this too, so I felt it would be easier for you to recreate the look properly if I used it. I started with the matte brown colour Buck, which I simply patted onto the lid (leaving out a slight gap in the corner of my eyes, so that I didn’t darken that area too much). I then took this colour again, and used an angled brush to apply it under the eyes. So far, your eyes should look like this.

The lighting wasn’t great here, but I have used the same colour underneath the eye as I have on the lid! Next, I took the colour Smog, which is a shimmery dark bronze shade. I applied this through the crease, making sure to blend it thoroughly but again not right into the corner of the eye, as we will brighten this up at the end.

I then took the colour Hustle, which is the darkest shade I will be using, and put this onto the outer V, and blended slightly through the crease. This shade definitely made my green eyes pop! The last colour for eyeshadow was the shade Virgin, which is a highlighter. I applied this to the inner corners of my eyes and just on the brow bone.

I then used my Maybelline Gel Liner and took this on the top lash line, and gave it a slight winged eye effect. Next, I applied the Elizabeth Arden Smokey Black Eye Liner, on the bottom and top water line. The mascara I applied was the Max Factor Masterpiece High Definition Mascara, and I put this on my top and bottom lashes.

At first I wasn’t too sure what lip colour to go for with this look, but, as this was meant to be a dramatic look which was appropriate for nights out, I went for a red! I used Mac’s Amplified Vegas Volt. Here is the finished result! (I took pictures in both artificial and natural light, so you could see how it looks in both!)

So, here it is! As I said, very over the top, but appropriate for nights out! If you aren’t a fan of bright lips, this look could look great with a shimmery nude lip too, like Mac’s Viva Glam V, or Faux!
